Important Site Update: 11th November 2004
Hello, I hope all the readers of this website are well,I would just like to let you know I have posted a selection of poems for George as a tribute to him, here on Remembrance Day. They are located on the 'News' section of this website. I hope you enjoy reading them.
Please share your remembrance memories in the Forum. What did you do during the war? Perhaps you would like to give a mention to a fallen comrade.
Let us all remember our heroes together,
Kindest Regards,
Jonathan.
George Pollard Tribute Website
Welcome to my George Pollard Tribute website. I created this site so that not only George, but also others are remembered for their sacrifice in the line of duty during the Second World War.
Who was George Pollard?
George William Pollard was an ordinary young man, called up to fight to defend his home, country and family. He is a distant relative of mine. I recently discovered the whereabouts of his grave, and the details of his accident.
He was born and grew up in South Shields. This is a small town in the North East of England, where I live. A working class community, with a rich heritage of mines and shipyards. George was a hero, he gave his life so that others, like myself, can enjoy the fruits of freedom. For this, I am eternally grateful.
For more details on George please go to the Information section of this website.
Who made this site?
My name is Jonathan. I am in my early twenties, and I am a student at South Tyneside College. I am very interested in all aspects of history, especially military history. I made this site to show my appreciation to my relative George Pollard. Their self-sacrifice and bravery goes beyond words. They paid the ultimate price, for a peaceful world.
How can you get involved with this site?
Basically, I want to hear from you. I want your stories, your experiences and memories. Perhaps you have tales to tell of your family members who fought. Maybe you yourself fought in the Second World War. Whatever the circumstances I would be extremely grateful for any contact you make.
I have made a Forum for the purpose of making this site interactive. In this forum you can submit your own stories, ask questions about this site, or anything else that is related to the memories of those lost men.
